I found this book last year, Planting a Rainbow, at Costco. It was in Hailey's Easter basket this year and has become one of her favorites. So much so that she asked if she could plant her own rainbow in our garden. How could I resist and what a fun project! We headed to Grampa's nursery to pick out our flowers and planted a rainbow. She loves to water it and check on the flowers daily.
The goal of this project was to pick out one flower for each color of the rainbow, red, yellow, orange, purple, blue, and pink and plant them all in one container. I think we got them all covered but who knows if they should all be in the same container due to water, sun and shade needs. They all seem to be doing quite well and the best part was that she did it all by herself.
I just love being able to encourage these great interests and such a neat way to learn. We will incorporate the bulb portion of the book this fall into our garden too.
