Valentine's Day

I told you I was behind and yes I do give my kid the beater from the mixer. Could you resist this face?

This Valentine’s Day we tried to keep it pretty low key as we were getting ready for our big trip to Mexico. We pretty much celebrated the weekend leading up to the holiday with a date night dinner on Saturday for Greg and I and then on Sunday had a fun party with the Seefurth Sisters. Jamie did a fantastic job capturing out Valentine’s Day play day on her blog post and I am not in any way going to match her description other then post a few pictures and provide a bit of detail. We thought that a red themed meal would be quite fun and knowing me I was going to leave the planning of this till the very last moment.

Hailey and I started out Sunday morning by baking Valentine’s Day themed cookies. She did amazingly well by helping me make the dough, rolling it out, cutting out the shapes with cookie cutters, and then placing them cookie sheet. She is getting to be quite the little cook. We also planned out our red themed meal and went to Costco to see what we could find. We came back with raspberries, BBQ pork, red and white stripped lobster ravioli, red tortilla chips, red wrapped cow cheese and strawberry milk with super fun heart whistle straws. I have to say that we did pretty good with our last minute planning. Also on the agenda was to make heart doilies with stickers and then top off the night by decorating the cookies.

I just love this picture of Leah as it pretty much captured the moment. Next year we really need to make sure we have more time for the girls to just play as they get along so well. I think we honestly just bugged them with the activities and heaven forbid we get them to eat!

On the actual day of Valentine’s day, Hailey had a party at my mom’s with all the kids as well as got to celebrate the next day with her preschool class. Since most of the kids go on Tuesdays they did an extra celebration special for them. All the valentines were out on her picnic table for weeks as she loved going through them and asking which one was from who. She really got a kick out of the cards this year, and surprisingly enough, the candy was not eaten nor asked about. We actually still have quite a bit left over in the candy bowl.

Happy very belated Valentine’s Day to all,

Love the Muchin’s
