All from seeds!

For those of you that don't know, my dad owns http://www.bellevuenursery.com/ , my grandparents started Squak Mountain Nursery, I grew up with a huge garden, (with chickens) in the middle of Bellevue, therefore, I should have a green thumb right? WRONG!

Well, I decided to change that, this year Hailey and I decided to start our garden. Last fall we started composting all of our food scraps and Greg got us a huge composting bucket the flips for our garden to be. My big plans were to turn our "second yard' the dog run/shed/wood pile/vacant space into a large garden so Hailey could have the same experience I did as a kid, minus the chickens, we will leave that to our favorite neighbors, A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE PORTERS :) One of my first memories was walking through the peas in the backyard and eating my weight in them. I wanted Hailey to know where her food comes from and have fun growing them.

Well, my plans were a little bit bigger than us, so my FABULOUS husband built us 2 garden containers in the back yard for us to grow our veggies. I hope that if we can show him what we are capable of, 2 more will be on the way ;)

Hailey and I started our garden from seeds in containers and egg cartons. She had fun poking the holes in the dirt with her pointer finger and then putting a seed in each one. We planted WAY to many for our pots, who knew that they all would sprout, so today all were transplanted into our wonderful garden boxes.

I think that we are going to have way to many carrots and zucchini so please come by and help us harvest in a few months or you will be receiving my famous carrot, applesauce, banana, zucchini bread in the fall :)
Hailey has had so much fun, she even planted her own garden on the other side of the yard. She took, all the plant stakes, her bucket and a shovel and started planting.
