Gingerbread house decorating

We continued our tradition of decorating a gingerbread house and made the decorating last the entire holiday season with it still standing in one piece. Notice how I said decorate vs. make though, I have to put a plug in for the Costco gingerbread house kits and props to them for actually having it pre-built this year. Last year, I can't even say how many attempts we had a trying to get all the walls to stay up.

Hailey got about half way done one day when she was home sick in early December and it was a great activity that kept her busy for quite awhile. She is so precise and meticulous when she decorates and it is so cute to see her fancy patterns and designs. I am hoping for quite an elaborate house in the years to come, I will enjoy the cuteness of them now.   It was funny how about 4 days after Christmas, after a few weeks of asking is she wanted to finish it, she asked to finish it. She even ran out of candy and I was lucky to have to some holiday candy that was in left in stockings to use.

It was her idea to make the path and set up the snowman in the trees, she placed each candy on the frosting that I applied just where she said too, and she chose which color of frosting I used. This is without a doubt, Hailey's decorated gingerbread house and tree and she sure is proud of her masterpiece as she made sure that everyone saw it when they came over.
