A few months ago my friend Jamie and I started switching babysitting nights once a month so we could go out as couples free of having to pay a sitter and being able to let our kids sleep in the comforts of their own bed when the other mom and dad were away.
This has worked out great! They do way more dates nights during the course of the month then we do so it is quite a nice treat for us and it takes at least one day out of the month that they don't have to beg the nanny, ask friends or pay a sitter.
It has also been a scheduling dream as I would much rather come after work on a Friday with Hailey, and let the girls think that they are having a sleep over and Jamie and Cory can go out right after work. Jamie would rather come to our place on a Saturday night after she puts her kids to bed for a kid free evening, this is also when Greg and I would much rather go out for a night on the town as both of us being home at a reasonable hour on a friday night is quite challenging and I hate being out late on a weekday night.
I have captured some cute pics and videos of the girls over the past 4 months, since starting our swap in September but tonight was probably the best. We have also been seeing them on our Wednesday's off so the girls have really been able hang out together and do not need the warming up time.
The girls play wonderfully together and just laugh and giggle with only a few instances of "she is not sharing" and "I had it first" or "Mine" but all in all it is a pretty fun night. It is amazing that they are a year apart but have so much fun! Hailey looks our for them like a big sister and the girls totally look up to her. She is also Mommy's little helper in helping to get the girls ready for dinner, and then for bed and plays with them so I can cook dinner and maybe even read a page or two out of a magazine.
All the pictures are from tonight as they are the best, they are from dinner where the girls all showed me their olives, and then I got quite the face with a tongue, who then said that they learned it from Mommy, just had to throw that in Jamie! After the playtime and dinner, the girls got to play with a very neat playdoh set that Hailey got for her birthday from a special friend yesterday. She told me this morning when I told her we were going to see the twins, that she wanted to "bring her Dora playdoh from my special friend Sarah to share". How cute is that! The girls had a ton of fun, and some of you are probably thinking that I was a brave sole to let 3 toddlers play with playdoh all at the same time. Honestly, I didn't even think about it until I was sitting there playing with them and mushing it through my fingers watching how much fun they were having and completely occupied and focused in it. Probably the best activity as it calmed them down and they each had enough pieces to play with. That is until they started tackling and tickling each other and running around falling on their knees and laughing.
The girls all ready for bed in thier jammies with thier lovies - could they be any cuter! Yes, maybe without the paci's - I will remember to take the picture next month before I give them the paci's. The one at the top though is pretty good but man, they are quick. Trying to get 2 toddlers to keep the paci's out and one preschooler to keep her legs still and then try to get them all to smile at the same time, I sure hope no one was looking in the window!
