November Deep Freeze 2010

Winter came a bit early and quite unexpected but I have to say we made the best of it :)

Hailey has been a bit timid in the snow in previous years but we cannot say that anymore. I was begged and pleeded with for 2 days to go out in 20 degree weather to eat the snow, dance in the snow, make snow angels, sled down the driveway, and have a great time. All the while getting a wind chapped face and not complaining ONCE!

On Monday afternoon we headed out back for a bit of playtime where she discovered that snow tastes pretty good! Yes, we did have the discussion of what color snow we eat and what color snow we DONT eat.

On Tuesday I worked from home as I was not about to brave the ice, we did manage to get a couple good snow plays in though, the driveway and snow/ice was perfect for sledding. Hailey went down all by herself and then after a few times, she started walking her sled back up the driveway, getting it in and then going down with me being able to stay at the bottom and ensure so cars came into the cul-de-sac and take video. It was so dang cute watching this little marshmallow try to get momentum by moving back and forward to go faster as she went down holding on to the rope. Mommy even got a chance to head down in tandum which was quite fun.

After playing outside we came in to a warm bowl of chicken noodle soup and her first yummy taste of hot cocoa.

This storm didn't leave much on the ground, we had maybe 4 inches total with 1-2 inches on the street but it was a sheet of ice underneath and from the looks of the freeways and the nightmare driving conditions it was like buring buried under 4 feet of snow from how the news played it out and how much it affected everthing. Some websites were stating the "Seattle was closed"

The crazy part is that my brother's girlfriend flew in last night from Boston and my Brother is flying in tonight from California for Thanksgiving. Right now we are 1 down, one to go.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and if you do not need to be out on the roads, please stay home safe and sound.
