Garden Tot's at Bellevue Nursery

A few months ago, I got this great idea to teach gardening classes at my Dad's Nursery in Downtown Bellevue to kids.

We just completed our 3rd class this past weekend and had a great time. These classes are starting to take off and I have learned what is and is not working with each one. ie, paints.... not a good idea more :)

The idea came to me as I was driving home one evening going North on Bothell Everett Highway and passed the local nursery, My Garden, I though to myself how I should check their website to see if they had any spring kiddo activities going one. Then in dawned on me, HELLO! you could teach them :) I called my dad and he said "why not!" so, that is what we did, we know teach one class a month on a Saturday. Next goal, get the word out sooner rather than later to get an even better turn out.

The first two classes we painted pots and planted seeds, had a fun time but the painting makes too much of a mess. The 3rd class we recycled tin cans by planting an herb plant and inserting a "custom" garden stake made from a popsicle stick. This was the best by far.

We have a few other activities coming up, so if you are interested in attending, check out the website and sign up to receive the newsletter. http://www.bellevuenursery.com/

Here are a few pics of the fun times that Hailey has had with these classes as she and my Sister Kara are my assistants and do a FABULOUS job :) all of the parents have given their permission for me to post these pictures online too :)

If you can find pinecones, then pinecone birdfeeders made with crisco and birdseed would be fun...not a plant, but they could be put in a garden... :) I love the idea, and it looks like it has been really cute! Maybe we will have to head down for one.
