Too smart for Mommy's own good

This week has been filled with learning colors, more shapes, sorting, and putting things away. We figured that when she starts to get cranky, she is bored or tired. By giving her something to learn, she immediatly calms down and focus her attention to the task at hand.

We learned the color pink and blue by name and by recognition as well as yellow and green when asked to pick one or the other.

Some example of how we know our colors:

• If she is wearing pink she will say the color when asked what color she is wearing.
• She wanted a ball at the grocery store, I handed her one and she said "no, pink", then she said "boo" Blue. Needless to say, we walked out with a pink and blue bouncy ball.
• We have three different colored bottles of soap for her baths and I let her pick out the color each night. Blue, Yellow, Green

As for shapes, she has known circles for quite some time, but she can know recognize triangles by name. She has also been able to put the shapes correctly in a shape sorter for months, but she is know really good at it and has better patience with herself to get it right the first or second time. She is also getting good at some harder uncommon shapes that will only fit one direction.

She was playing with flashcards at Gramma's this week, sign language cards and animal cards. They were all mixed up, and when Gramma looked back a few minutes later and saw that the two decks of cards were sorted into two seperate piles, sign language, and animals. There was only one other kid awake at this time and he was watching a movie.

Hailey has also turned into a very clean little girl in regards to toys, slippers, blankets, books, etc. When she is done with something, she will in most cases put it back where it came from. I gave her a new pair of slippers this morning and when she was done wearing them, she walked down the hall and put them back in the drawer that she saw me take them out of.

I don't know what I did to deserve such a smart little girl but I sure am I lucky to have her. This weekend she has been SO fun, SO good and SO happy. Many people have commented on how l behaved she is and how she listens so well. We have had a baby shower, and two birthdays to go to this weekend and have been around a lot of new people but she was my perfect little angel at all three.

Thank goodness that we are through the first 16 teeth! This is the baby that I have raised, when we are breaking through teeth, times can be quite challenging. Please let there be a LONG break before we have the next set of molars.
