We woke up and started off with green pancakes, then we had green cream cheese on a bagel for lunch.
We then got started cooking our traditional corned beef and cabbage and "fairy" Irish soda bread for our evening guests.
It was a very fun day with lots of laughter and special friends and family to share it with. .
Hailey and Chloe also had fun making our dessert of cupcakes with green frosting and various decorations
Unfortunately there were not pictures of dinner because it just tasted to dang good to waste a moment on the camera. The girls also enjoyed their green jello jigglers.
The "fairy bread is a cute story to tell too. I was looking for a recipe to make this bread, that honestly, it just doesn't sound too good so I really didn't have high hopes. I found a great recipe to make with sour cream and then read about the meaning of the bread. We changed it a bit however. In our house, when you slice the dough, it provides an opening during cooking for the fairy's to come out. During dinner they grow and fly around the house to wait for you to go bed. They then kiss your cheek and bring you good luck for the upcoming year. It was pretty cute in the AM when Hailey woke up to stickers on her hands and a fairy kiss on her cheek.
Details are not necessary but on Monday while Hailey was a my mom's I did get a phone call to make sure she was feeling all right.... All that green food coloring turns other things neon green the next day :) LOL
