Crafty Christmas

We celebrated the holiday with many crafts such as snowflakes, Jello, snowman cards, Christmas cookies, a special Snickers bar, and edible Christmas Trees.

It was great having a few days at home with her recovering from a cold to fit in the many crafts. It was some much needed quality quiet time before the Christmas Chaos began.

The snowflakes were fun, we burned through I think 10 sheets of construction paper in all sorts of colors and our sliding glass window is very nicely decorated.

Custom designed Snowman cards were a huge hit! This was done with sponge circle and a hat cut outs with sparkle paint. We then drew on the accessories. Hailey did these entirely by herself with the exception of the scarves. (Final Product Picture will be posted shortly)

Making Christmas cookies a fun holiday tradition. I think next year we will take it up a notch and do a full day cookie baking day with multiple types of cookies vs. just the sugar cookies and hopefully get some more fun usage out of my new cookie press.

A few days before Christmas Hailey came up with this idea on the way to preschool to make edible Christmas trees. She came up with a bread cut out in the shape of a Christmas tree with bananas, beans, corn, peas and carrots as the decorations and a star on the top, we found a star fruit which was a huge hit! The kids did this on Christmas as a fun activity.

For the finale of the Christmas craftiness, we made Grampa Dexter a Ginormous Homemade Snickers bar. It was so fun and a great treat on Christmas. It was layers of carmel sauce, peanuts, homemade nougat and melted chocolate in a 15 x 9 pan.
