She is in a league of 3/4 year olds mixed of both boys and girls. She has had 2 practices and one game and did pretty well for mom not realizeing that I probably should have practiced with her a bit before hand so she could understand the concepts a bit.
The first two practices went great, she needed lot's of encouragement and kept running to me for hugs but she eventually warmed up and got right into the middle of it. She has great control (for a 3 year old) understand how to dribble, stop the ball with her foot, pass with the same person. and kick into the goal. Her team has alot of older 4 year olds too which is awesome as about half have played before.
She even kinda looks like a soccer player? :)
Her first game however was a bit different, they did not scrimmage so some, including Hailey, had no idea what to do when there was just one ball to literally chase around the court. For the first couple of minutes she just stood their watching this chaos happen around her. She then got the chance to play goalie and was able to watch the action. When she got back on to the court she got right into the middle, ran with the kids, passed the ball, dribbled, and kicked the ball towards the goal. In this league they do not keep score as that is not what is important. We decided that getting her into team sports early on would be good as she has only done individual sports. We want her to have a good balance of both and I think that she really likes soccer. Boy, I sure forgot what good exercise it was. I was tired just watching from the sidelines.
