In the past our Christmas Eve traditions have been to leave out cookies for Santa and a carrot for Rudolf around 2 pm and head down to my dad's for a Christmas Eve dinner with a good thought/attempt to make it to church for the Christmas Eve service. Unfortunately, we had never been able to make it since Hailey joined the family. This year was quite different, Hailey started to make up her own ideas about how she was going to ensure that Santa found her, who could forget the cookies, carrot and now apple for Rudolf, finally making it to church and the Christmas Jammies.
A few days before Christmas, Hailey and I were sitting on the couch talking about Christmas and somehow we got on the subject of how Santa was going to be able to find her. The conversation goes something like this. Hailey immediately starts in with: "I am going to have to leave him a path so he can find me" Mommy: "what kind of path?" Hailey: "a path of music notes!" Mommy thinks ?!?!?! Mommy asks: "why music notes?" Hailey: "because that is how the Little Einsteins find Hansel and Gretel" Mommy says: "oh yes, you are very right, you must leave him a path of music notes ?!?!?!?, I will find you some coloring sheets with music notes on them so you can leave Santa a path" Hailey: "Thank you mommy!" You kinda had to be there to see how cute this was, and that it literally took all of 10 seconds to have this conversation.
This year we also discovers the new tradition of opening up Christmas jammies on Christmas Eve. I had never heard of this until this year from multiple people so of course we had to start that tradition, and I love it! I am so looking forward to my yearly picture of her in front of the fire at my Dad's each year in her super cute Christmas jammies. We always go to open up one present on xmas eve and this was the first year that we have done this with Hailey so I am very glad that we started the tradition off with this.
I even got an attempt at a family picture, Greg looks a bit "off" but we are all in the same shot! That counts for something doesn't it?
