A day at the Zoo

We took a trip to the Zoo a few weeks back on one of our gorgeous Seattle days in February. It was so much fun and she had the best time ever looking at all the animals. It was a bit later in the day so all the animals were out and awake. We also got to see the new penguin exibit that I have been waiting to go and see.

Hailey had been wanting to see the butterflys but I guess they don't come out until late spring. She continues to ask about them, and says that we get to go back to the Zoo when the butterflys are out and see the hippos, lions, and panda. Somehow we missed those on this adventure but we will make sure to start out there when we go back. I don't think I am going to be able to forget it anytime soon!

We packed a peanut butter and jelly with other tasty lunch bits and had fun eating lunch as we walked through. It was a bit cold to actually sit and have a picnic and she was so excited to be there I don't think that I could have gotten her to actually "sit" and eat.

It was the weekend before the night exibit closed but she didn't want to go in and see it, she said it looked scary. It is kinda sad to see exibts close that you remember going to as a kid but I am sure that it will turn into something very exciting.
I just loved watching the look on her face as she checked out each animal in awe. Here she is looking at the Tigers, just after we entered. It was the first exibit that we went to. I love this one of the tiger behind her, with her eyes watching the other one around the corner.
We then got to see the other tigers outside playing with a ball. I didn't even know that there were two considering I think I have only seen them sitting down sunbathing.

Here are a few additional pictures of our trip, she LOVED seeing the bronze statues and had to climb on each one, I added in a few of the cute ones for you to see.

The only "oops" of the day was that I promised that we could get ice cream at the end of the visit, well, silly Mommy! When the Zoo closes at 4pm the concessions close too. They only restrict people from entering after 4 but you can still walk around. I just figured that the concessions would be open until we left at 5pm.
Well, we made a pit stop at our favorite ice cream shop, Spotted Cow, in Mill Creek and she got her first own kiddie size ice cream. I didn't even make her share it with me! Amazingly enough, she didn't get one drop on her super cute outfit.
