Another day at the park

Hailey and I have enjoyed MANY days at the park so far this spring. She just loves being outside, going down the slide, "wee", running around the playground and going for walks in her stroller. We have taken many walks around the trails within the parks or the neighborhood to get there as many of the parks are in walking distance. It has been a great way to get in a nice 2 mile walk with a destination. I have a hard time walking without a purpose, therefore, I am glad that we have discovered the park.

Yesterday we checked out Martha Lake Park off of 164th between Mill Creek and Lynnwood. I thought great! it is on the lake, it must be nice. Boy was I wrong! The water was dirty, the grass was not mowed, there were weeds and bugs and just not what I think is a nice park. I guess you can tell that I grew up in Bellevue. When I mentioned it at work today, people we like, oh yeah, that one is bad. Shoot, I guess I need to ask more questions before we venture out. All in all, Hailey had a great time, as the play area was actually pretty nice. Lucky for me she has not mastered the snobby attitude yet like her mommy.

She mastered the curvy slide...

"I know I can do this"
"Almost there""Look what I just did"
"We always have to bring a ball"
"Mommy"Always Running! So far this summer we have hit the following parks and we plan to make it through our entire city park book that I got from Starbucks a few years ago. Well, at least the ones that are cloes by and safe. There are many of them that we will not go back to so if anyone has any suggestions for good ones please let us know.
  • Silvercrest Park - around the corner from our house and they deal drugs there, never going back
  • Cougar Park - about a mile away and walking distance - PERFECT and our favorite
  • Northcreek Park- on our way home, not walking distance therefore it is our second favorite. but it does have a nature trail boardwalk so we can go on duck hunts
  • Martha Lake - GHETTO, I do not need to say anymore
  • Silver Lake - DITTO
  • Lynnwood Park- Ok, but there were kids smoking pot there last year in the bushes. There is a water feature there so we may go back later this summer
  • Bellevue Park - Great, but far away
  • Kirkland Park - Great, but again, far away - a great way to get a good walk in if you park at the lake to avoid traffic and hike to it
  • Mill Creek Nature Preserve - really cool as it goes along a stream, but it is in the woods so we will make sure daddy is with us next time.

You don't like Silver Lake park? On the lake? We love that one...best in the summer, but love it. Make sure you hit Willis Tucker once the water feature is on...Lame toys...but TONS of grass and the water park is the best thing EVER!!!! Seriously! Hate Martha Lake also, though in the summer the beach is nice as they clean the water up...Let me know the good finds...love park hopping. Never been to Cougar...going to check it out!!!
