Update on Hailey

We had an appointment with Hailey's doctor today as a follow up to our crazy weekend and she was diagnosed with a virus called Roseola.

It is very common and not harmful but it can be pretty scary as they can run quite a high fever. Hailey was in the small percentage of kids (10% -15%) that end up having a fibril seizure as her temp went from102 to 105.7 in about 20 min on Thursday.

We really have no idea where Hailey picked this up as we have been out and about a lot these past few weeks. In an info sheet on the virus given to us by her doctor it states that they can come down with the virus 9-10 days after being with a child who has come down with it in addition to what it says in the link below that kids can spread it before they show any symptoms. I am guessing that she was contagious over the weekend of the 12th –the 14th and anyone ages 6 months to 3 years that was around her could come down with it any time this week through this coming Sunday as she came down with the fever on Wednesday the 17th.

Please pass this on to everyone you know as I don’t feel that there is enough awareness around this virus as we spent to separate evenings in two separate ER’s as well getting a visit by the Mill Creek fire department and aid unit with a ride in an ambulance to Evergreen Hospitol. The picture in the linkbelow is really gross and she looks nothing like that, what she has is a non raised pinkish rash all over her chest, back, neck and a bit in her diaper area.
